While King Candy was studying the map, he suddenly heard someone utter his name. He came out of the corner he was in, and suddenly saw Varian talking to a man with tentacles around his mouth, dressed in pirate clothes and holding a pipe. He first turned to Varian, and said: "Hi there, haven't seen you in a while. You're Varian, right?" Then he turned to the pirate, and said: "As for you, I don't think I've seen you around before. My name is King Candy." Varian let out a long sigh as the last person he wanted to see show up. At least he seemed to miss that comment he made about him just a moment ago considering the King's happy mood. "Hello your Highness." Varian said in an unenthusiastic tone. "Yes, I'm Varian. And I was just telling one of our new arrivals, Davy Jones, about all the castle inhabitants I've met so far." He gestured towards Davy Jones while hoping King Candy would leave them alone before rambling about vid o games or whatever he called them.

King Candy quickly turned to the pirate with the tentacle beard.
"So you're Davy Jones? Nice to meet you!"

King Candy quickly turned to the pirate with the tentacle beard. "So you're Davy Jones? Nice to meet you!" Jones turned to look down at King Candy. "Likewise, your majesty", he responded brusquely, eyeing the miniature monarch with some confusion. In truth, Davy found this man even more surprising than he had initially found Varian. When he had joined this group, he had expected a company of fearsome, ambitious, cutthroat individuals, and everyone he had met so far had fit that description. And yet this man, with his diminutive stature, colorful outfit, and jovial demeanor, was by far the last type of person he had expected to see among this group. Jones was inclined to believe that, much like Varian, there must be more to this King Candy than first met the eye (after all, Varian had mentioned that he hid a more powerful form) but the information he had been given regarding the king's personality wasn't exactly reassuring. Still, it couldn't hurt to learn more about this peculiar fellow while he was here, although he did hope to resume his conversation with the alchemist soon.

King Candy decided to tell his backstory to Davy Jones. "Let me tell something about myself. I once had my own kingdom named Sugar Rush. It's a kingdom filled with sweet stuff, like candy, cookies, chocolate, and so much more. However, my kingdom was invaded by a giant who called himself Wreck-It Ralph. And now, I seek revenge on him." Then he remembered Varian talking about his Cy-Bug form. "Oh yeah, I can also transform into a powerful monster. Would you like to see it?"

Varian rolled his eyes and was clearly annoyed with King Candy's presence. Varian was interested in finding more about Davy Jones and where he came from, but thanks to this intrusion, now he had to listen to more of the King's mad ramblings.
Or at least he thought he did until he heard a roar echo throughout the halls. "Did you guys hear that?" Varian pondered the possibilities for the strange roar. Was it one of the new arrivals? One of the Five? One of Maleficent's minions? Yet, the roar sounded oddly familiar. Then Varian recalled where he had heard a roar like that before. "No...It couldn't be...It's impossible!" Varian mumbled under his breath.
Shortly after the roar, there was an explosion. Varian did not like either sound and knew he had to look into this. "Uhh, you guys can chat if you want. I'm gonna go investigate those noises." Varian said as he walked away towards the source which sounded like it came from the storage.
(OOC: Gonna have Varian pop into the Storage to help deal with the raccoon problem soon.)

King Candy was startled by the roar and the explosion. As Varian left the library, he turned to Davy Jones again. However, he could wait a little longer with showing off his Cy-Bug form.
"How about you? What brought you here?"

"How about you? What brought you here?" Davy Jones watched Varian leave the room before turning his attention to King Candy. It was a shame that his conversation with the young alchemist had to end so abruptly, as he had found it surprisingly interesting, but there would likely be plenty of time to continue it later, after whatever it was that had caused that roar had been dealt with. For the moment, King Candy seemed like a moderately interesting person to talk to. The backstory he described of being from a land of sweets was odd even compared to the strange things Jones was used to, but at the very least they had one thing in common. "The same thing as you, it seems," Davy said in answer to the king's question. "I was once the lord of the seven seas, a legend so fearsome I could cause even the most courageous sailors to tremble, until I lost everything to a group of filthy bilge rat scoundrels who cheated me out of what I was rightfully owed." It didn't matter how many times he relayed this story, merely thinking of those responsible for his death made the captain's blood boil. "And now, like you, I have joined this faction seeking recompense for what was done to me."

King Candy and Davy Jones may not have been without their differences (Davy Jones was a fearsome pirate, and King Candy was a bubbly king that liked candy), but Candy felt sympathy for Jones. "I know that feeling all too well." Now, he felt like showing off his Cy-Bug form. "Speaking of fearsome, I can transform into a fearsome monster. If you'd like to see it, I'd suggest coming to the training grounds with me, where there's enough room for me to show it off."

Now this should be interesting, he thought to himself. There wasn't much point to staying in the Archive anyway, as his search through its shelves hadn't uncovered anything that would be of any use to him. For now, it couldn't hurt to see what powers this King Candy fellow possessed, not to mention seeing more of the castle. "Very well," he replied, gesturing towards the door with his claw. "Lead the way, your highness."
