The Horned King watched as Varian departed, Ruddiger in tow. He had no objection to his leaving; the contraption the alchemist had alluded to seemed to be a noteworthy target for the duck to claim, so it would be good to have him guarding it.
Before the lich could think towards their next move on locating the foul fowl, Mozenrath returned, clearly having just woken up but the state of his posture and demeanor.
The king supposed it would fall to him to catch his fellow sorcerer up to speed. It was only a matter of how well Mozenrath would take the news.
"So good of you to rejoin us, Mozenrath," the king began slowly. "It would have been most unfortunate had the duck taken out one of our... star players, as it were."
He shifted about, allowing the sorcerer to better see the garden-turned-battlefield. "The others and I were able to incapacitate Negaduck and return him to normal size. However, before we could punish the duck further for his rampage, a chance rockslide buried the cretin..."

"So he's dead?" Mozenrath asked dryly. "Well, that's a slight disappointment. I would've liked to do him in myself, but I'll take what I can get."

"You might want to hold that thought my friend," Ratigan said, as he gestured to the hole, where Negaduck had made his escape. "It would seem not even that, was enough to subdue our opponent. We believe he has escaped with the crystal, with his life in tow. We do not know where his current whereabouts are, but unless he has somehow transported to a different location, he should still be around the castle." (OOC: Hope you guys don't mind the intrusion. If it interferes with some hidden plan, feel free to ignore me.)

"So..." Mozenrath's left eyelid twitched. "You're telling me...that not only is Negaduck STILL ALIVE...BUT HE STILL HAS WHAT BELONGS TO ME."
"I'd duck and cover," Xerxes warned before shooting off to do exactly that.

…Ratigan had immediately regretted telling the sorcerer the bad news. In hindsight, given the boy's incredibly over the top reactions, he probably should've seen this coming. Well, no time to dwell on it now! The Professor quickly followed the Eel's advice, jumping into the hole Negaduck had buried, hoping that the Horned King, would be able to calm the boy down.

"Curb your anger, if you can, Mozenrath," the Horned King requested, watching as the smaller members of the group darted away from the angered boy. What was he going to do - send energy blasts towards the people that were assisting him? Foolish. "You should count his survival as fortunate; you can still be the one who destroys the duck AND reclaim your precious crystal."
The lich scrunched up his face in contemplation. "However, it once again becomes a matter of locating the fowl. There seemed to be no indication that the crystal had overloaded as you said it might, so it is likely that he is still within the castle grounds. Though, we must act quickly before either he or the crystal start some other cataclysm here."

He pointed at it with his gun "I would suggest to split up, some of us can stay here and wait in case the bird comes out from there while others look inside the castle"

"Fortunate?" Mozenrath repeated. "FORTUNATE? YOU THINK I'M GOING TO BE PACIFIED BY THE FACT THAT - "
Except...
He was.
"No," he said, holding back the tides. "This could work to my advantage. A simple rockslide is too banal. Too plebeian. Not painful enough. Now, I can give him what he REALLY deserves..."
His right hand clenched instinctively.

"Well…" Ratigan muttered as he climbed back up, now that the hothead sorcerer had calmed down, "good to see, you've managed to find the bright side in this." After taking a brief moment to readjust himself, he turned to address his allies. "Not that it is any concern of mine, but I believe Sir Clayton's suggestion has some merit. If we follow down this hole, it should be a cinch to find the troublesome avian. Unless, you would happen to know any good tracking spells or the sorts?"

"Tracking spell." Mozenrath's eyes widened. "Get me back to Varian's laboratory along with a crate of gunpowder from the ammo storage, and you have your duck."

(And thus, there I have the excuse of Clayton´s absense, though if anyone wants to take him you are free to do so)

"Well, I can't say I have anything better to do. I suppose I could tag along, for a while longer," The Professor replied.

Post by Davy Jones on Feb 3, 2020 3:20:43 GMT
Jones stepped into the Thorn Gardens with his sword drawn. Though it had taken some time (navigating the castle was still somewhat tricky), he had been able to follow the noises back to their source, although the noises had been dying down as he got closer, and had stopped completely by the time he had gotten there. He suspected that whatever battle might be happening was probably drawing to a close, and upon his arrival, his assumption was confirmed. Surveying the area, he saw only a small group of people conversing amongst themselves. Among them he noticed Mozenrath and the Horned King, as well as a few others he had not yet gotten acquainted with. They appeared to be preparing to leave. It seemed that he had missed whatever had happened here. He re-sheathed his sword. It was fortunate that the threat, whatever it was, had been dealt with. However, it did make him wonder what sort of enemy could have caused this much damage to the area, and, more importantly, why it had attacked them.

When Mozenrath noticed Davy's arrival, he flinched. Then he threw up his hands in frustration; "NOW you show up!"
