"Ugh." Mozenrath rolled his eyes. "HEROES. You have my sympathies. ...Insofar as I have sympathies. This 'Basil' sounds like a piece of work, all right. Why must they always be so PERSISTENT? Anyway, that's...actually a rather impressive résumé. Considering that you're about ten times smaller than the kind of person who would usually go for those crimes. I don't suppose you have any magical talent?"

I don't suppose you have any magical talent?" "Unfortunately, no," the Professor admitted. "Where I am from, magic is nothing more than parlor tricks and slide of hand. But, what I lack in the occult, I have more than made up for in cunning, ingenuity, ruthlessness and superior intellect! And, size as well. You'd be surprised, how few people pay attention to you, when you're my height."

"Well, I didn't think you were worth paying attention to, so I buy it," Mozenrath went on as he continued his brew. "Actually, that does sound useful."
He'd always thought the best schemes were the ones where you were front and center at all times. Stealth? That was what you hired the Mukhtar for, or dispatched the Mamluks with the black sand barrels for. Then you would make your grand entrance, letting everyone see you, fear you, realize who was in charge. The few times he'd gone in on a disguise, he never held it for more than five minutes before dispelling his glamour or throwing back his hood.
But Ratigan...he was proud of being stealthy. And this was a man whose personality indicated he, too, loved the spotlight. How interesting.
Not that Mozenrath was about to make it sound like Ratigan's approach was better than his, which it wasn't.
"Maybe we can put that height to use on some more valuable targets than just the crown jewels," he mused. "Worlds' worth of magical artifacts and devices await, all of them heavily guarded by sentries and traps. You just might be able to save us some trouble by bypassing them."

"Ohohoho, I like the way your mind works, Mr.…Mozenrath was it?" Ratigan agreed, with a deliciously evil grin. Despite the sorcerer's earlier comment, he was staring to like the lad.

"It was," Mozenrath said with a grin. "Actually, I wonder. Perhaps I could even find a spell that would allow you to have the best of both worlds...the height for stealth AND the ability to play with the big boys."
The wheels were turning in his mind; Ratigan might be an interesting experiment indeed.
So long as he didn't catch on that he was an experiment.

The wheels were turning in his mind; Ratigan might be an interesting experiment indeed. So long as he didn't catch on that he was an experiment. Now, THAT excited Ratigan! While he was comfortable with his current size, a part of him knew, that if he was going to last in this group, he would need to find a way to increase his power and usefulness. Not to mention, he doubted he would get much respect in his current form, something he needed, in order to effectively work with the others. He was of course, slightly cautious about accepting, as there was no telling what Mozenrath might have in mind. He was familiar, with manipulating others to his benefit, he had done it sometimes. But he doubted the sorcerer, would risk doing something that would upset Maleficent, who had spent much power to bring him here, and if things turned bad, he could find a way, to turn things to his advantage. "Go on." Ratigan replied, with quite an intrigued tone.

Post by King Candy on Oct 21, 2019 21:24:48 GMT
Things have been going rough for King Candy in the storage room. Ratigan was too small; Varian was interested with him at first, but this died down when he explained his backstory; Mozenrath was unimpressed with him from day one; and Negaduck didn't say a word at all.
And now, King Candy noticed that his attempt to make a deal with Varian fell on deaf ears. He decided to stick around to hear Ratigan's story instead, but he didn't say a word. After he made a fool out of himself with his reckless behaviour and the way he told his story, he felt that interrupting Ratigan would only make things worse.
When Ratigan and Mozenrath were about to make a deal, King Candy left the storage room to prevent himself from getting in their way.
The next time he'd try to make contact with other villains, he'd have to consider his choice of words more carefully. Also, he'd have to be more careful when showing off his Cy-Bug mode.
(OOC: I didn't realize that Varian had left the storage room. Must've read over it.)

"Well, I was just thinking that if you had human proportions," Mozenrath mused, "your build would allow you a fair bit of strength. Now, neither of us would want to sacrifice your current size advantage, so if I had the proper magic, I see potential in fixing you a method of being able to grow or diminish at will."
He didn't have the proper magic, but this castle was chock-full of things he'd never seen before, right? He'd find a way. And, if worst came to worst...he could probably ask Varian for some assistance.
Not Hades, of course. He knew where he stood on the ladder. You didn't ask the Lord of the Dead for help. You answered when he asked.
Which reminded him...
"However, I do have duties to carry out for his royal macabreness first and foremost," he reminded Ratigan. Well, told him for the first time, but that was splitting hairs. Actually, no - this was a good opportunity to brag. "I am Hades' right-hand man now, complete with my own right hand restored. Just a little something to consider as you go about daily life here."

"Oh, you don't say? Congratulations." Ratigan congratulated his newfound ally. Though, there was a slight spark of bitterness to it. Mozenrath had only just arrived, and all ready he seemed to have gained a leg up on many others. It reminded him, of how low he currently was amongst his allies, and how much he would need this supposed spell, the sorcerer was proposing. Loathed as he was to admit it, he had lost the power and presence he had had over his fellow mice, and in terms of power was near the bottom.
This would not stand. It would take some time and work, but Ratigan swore he would rebuild his reputation and become the feared criminal mastermind, he once was. For now, building a friendship with his allies was a good start. "Do give him my regard."

"I will," Mozenrath stated as he sprinkled the final ingredient into the cauldron.
The surface bubbled and boiled. All it needed was direction. "Find Pain and Panic," he said calmly.
The depiction was of an austere office with cement walls. The two demons in question (he hadn't expected them to look THAT paltry) appeared front and center, though two other men were to be found in the background, having a lively discussion.
"Aaaand morons located," Mozenrath stated. "Well, I'll be off...unless, of course, you want to continue our discussion on the move."
He both did and didn't want Ratigan to come along with him. He did want to continue discussing the experiment, but not really any more idle chatter...not yet.

I've been meaning to refurbish my new living quarters, as well as get more acquainted with out allies. Whenever you're ready, to discuss your spell, you'll find me inside the hole next to this room. Until the next time." With that, Ratigan gave a courteous bow, and exited the storage.

Mozenrath shrugged. "Suit yourself."
Then he touched the surface of the liquid, vanishing as he did so.

Post by Percival C. McLeach // Joanna on Oct 30, 2019 5:18:43 GMT
Joanna found her way from Scar's Cavern to the Storage room after a while and it definitely looked more like she was in the right place. Finally, she thought, convinced. I found the supply area.
She took a quick look around before tilting her head in confusion.
...Well, at least I think it's the supply area.
She began to scurry around a bit, standing on her hind legs to lean on the boxes and sniff what could be in them. Okay, this container seems to have...book things inside...good to know...
She found another box with metal scraps and sniffed that, too.
Ah yes...this metal smells like metal...but not bullets...
She went to smell another box nearby.
...But THIS one smells like it could have bullets! What a sick find. Good on ya, Joanna...
She was admittedly a bit too occupied with her mission to hear anyone that might be coming in.

Ruddiger scampered ahead of Varian as he headed back to the lab. Ruddiger passed the storage again when he heard some strange noises. Curiosity getting the better of him, Ruddiger went inside the storage. He followed the source of the noise to a box that was shaking. The raccoon slowly crept towards the box, getting more and more nervous about what was inside.

Curiosity getting the better of him, Ruddiger went inside the storage. He followed the source of the noise to a box that was shaking. The raccoon slowly crept towards the box, getting more and more nervous about what was inside. "Yep! Bullets," Joanna exclaimed in animal, finally opening the box. "Oh, McLeach is gonna give me a lotta eggs for this one!" She giggled as she raised her head in pride...only to look directly at a creature she had never seen before. "What the-" she gasped, trying to figure out how this triangle-faced monkey snuck up on her while she was digging loudly into the box. "How did you...Ah, who cares?" She jumped out of the box, knocking it over and spilling shotgun shells out in the process. She landed directly in front of Ruddiger, looking down on him with an intimidating look. "This box is mine," she growled. "Piss off!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [[Turns out that they don't have raccoons in Australia]]
