With not too much hassle, the Horned King slinked into the catacombs of the castle, locating the area he felt would give him some quick respite from his sudden return - the dungeon.
Illuminated by several simple torches, the king strode past the cells, bars made of solid, sturdy looking iron and the same chiseled cobblestone the entire castle was made of seemed to go on forever, with chains and shackles lining the inside of each. The dank, claustrophobic air of the place was heavy, and there seemed to be no windows or breaks to let natural light come in.
It was perfect.
The Horned King could not help but suppress a chuckle to himself. Oh, how he could imagine the walls of this place, lined with annoying upstart heroes, crying fragile princesses, and foolish other interlopers who would dare stand in his way. To spend the rest of their days, rotting away while more and more villains arrive to this place. What despair and anguish they would feel. And what perfect sacrifices they would make if the Black Cauldron ever return to his possession.
"No..." the lich rasped to himself. "Not if... when the cauldron is mine again. And then... oh, and then... godhood will be within my grasp!"
He punctuated the line by balling a fist tightly, letting out another sinister chuckle.

With seemingly no one paying attention to him, King Candy decided to explore the castle. One of the castle's facilities that he stumbled upon happened to be the dungeons. He imagined himself and his allies locking up any hero they've caught in these dungeons.
Of course, Ralph would need giant handcuffs, and Vanellope would need a glitch-proof chain. As for Fix-it Felix and Sergeant Calhoun, a simple dungeon cell for each of them would do just fine.
Either way, King Candy imagined himself torturing the prisoners and even force-feeding them candy until they exploded. The very thought filled him with excitement, and he started laughing.

The Horned King's dark eyes narrowed at the sound of laughter coming from behind him. His sinister reverie within the dark depths of the dungeons had been interrupted. He turned slowly, finding the interloper to be the minuscule monarch who had littered the courtyard with treats from his person. How... quaint. However, the lich had seen this King Candy transform into a some chimera of sorts as well - part insect, part metal, part himself. He hadn't done much to inspire fear and awe during the introductions, but to be unfortunately fair, no one reacted much to the Horned King either. Not exactly the first choice of partners to converse with. The Horned King thought. But to have made his way to the dungeons of this place such as myself, perhaps he too has a dark thought or two after all. Slowly and deliberately, the Horned King turned and stalked his way towards where Candy had been observing the cells and giggling to himself. The limited light from the torches around them formed huge, distorted shadows on the walls of the dungeon around the king as he approached. "What do you find so comical, my meager compatriot? I did not expect someone of your... personality to be found chuckling at the sights of locks and chains all the way down here... alone."

On one hand, he was finally getting some attention. On the other hand, the Horned King looked a little creepy to him. Either way, he decided to enter Cy-Bug mode, and introduce himself. "I am King Candy. I was once the king of a land named Sugar Rush. However, an ugly muscular man named Wreck-It Ralph came along and ruined everything. But now I'm back, and I'm hungry for revenge on him. Anyway, I was exploring this castle, and then I found these dungeons. In Sugar Rush, I used to have one of these too, except it was called the Fungeon. Either way, I can't wait to lock up Ralph and his friends in these dungeons, and torture them!"

The Horned King studied his fellow monarch as he transformed into his second form from before. It was clear the lich's presence had disturbed Candy, that much was clear prior to the change. And while he retained the bulbous head and large round nose of his first apperance, the sharp claws and legs, vicious wings, and elongated proportions Candy could be considered terrifying to lesser men. The Horned King was almost impressed. Or, as much as he could be with one who normally dressed like a court jester. However, some of Candy's story struck some familiar nerves within the king - one's he didn't particularly like to remember. But all the same, despite their clear differences, the two shared one a few things in common. The lich could use that. "Bested by unruly upstarts, as well? An unfortunate common theme amongst us gathered here," the Horned King lamented. "I, too, was on the verge of greatness before it was all taken from me. A group of brats and fools calling themselves heroes denied me the use of my most sought after prize, the Black Cauldron, and with it rule over the land of Prydain." The king plucked one of the torches from its sconce on the wall closest to him, the fire illuminating his and Candy's monstrous faces. The lich stared deep into the flames, his eyes making out the shapes of those that defeated him, earning a scowl from him. "This dungeon spans far longer than I could have ever hoped. Perhaps it could accommodate every fool that ever crossed us. The boy, Princess Eilonwy, that buffoon of a bard... and surely, your - Wreck It-Ralph, was it? - could join them in a cell. I'm sure our dear mistress Maleficent would allow us to craft our own personal torture chambers for whatever guests we decide to take in. And after we've satisfied ourselves with their suffering, we can always-" The Horned King snapped the wooden torch with his grip, the shattered wood and flames sparking before falling to his feet. "Snuff their light out. How does that sound?"

But now, he was getting more comfortable around him. The Horned King's answer made him even more excited to deal with their enemies. Even so, he knew he had to be careful around him. But right now, he felt mostly excitement. "Making our own torture chambers? And snuffing their lights out when we're done with them? Oh my, that sounds like music to my ears! However, we'll need giant handcuffs for Wreck-It Ralph, and a glitch-proof chain for his glitchy little friend, Vanellope von Schweetz. We can't afford to take any risks with those two. As for his other friends, regular chains will do just fine."

At least, that's what I would hope from our leader." Maleficent. The Mistress of All Evil. A faery powerful and skilled enough in dark magic to summon all of them from separate worlds. However, her silence in regarding the remaining three members of her coveted "Prophesied Five" was concerning. The Horned King knew the value of keeping secrets and revealing them at the right moment, but he knew, just as the others in the castle probably knew, that restlessness can strike at a moment's notice. He'd like to gauge what the others thought of one another - taking in the insight of others was rare of the king, but within this new scenario he was in, it would be best to... tolerate the opinions of others for the sake of information gathering. Perhaps, with Candy and few others under his wing, the Horned King's standing could surpass the Five... perhaps even... No, he was getting ahead of himself. There was much to learn before action could be taken. The lich looked upon his conversation partner, turning a gnarled hand around as he addressed him. "What say you, Candy, of our fellow entourage here at this place? Any opinions on the others since you have arrived here? Does Maleficent strike you as someone who could effectively lead so many villains across so many worlds?"

At this point, he was considering leaving the dungeons and exploring the castle even further, while waiting for some real action to come. But first, he had a little question of his own. "But before I go, would you like some candy? I can get anything you want - lollipops, gumballs, chocolate, liquorice, you name it. Would you like any?"

The Horned King nodded. He should have suspected as such - many of the others were on the brink of death before Maleficent's spell twisted fate to their advantage; the lich included. Of course they would follow under her for the powers she displayed and the promises she made, despite her lack of clarification on how they were to progress now that they've begun gathering. No matter. It's much too early to begin anything concrete anyway. The lich will simply listen and wait - there was no real rush. If he had the patience to tolerate Creeper and the barbarians under his command while he waited for the Black Cauldron to be his back in his own world, he could certainly bide his time here. The sorcerer waved his hand. "Very well, King Candy. I've... enjoyed our little chat here. Do be sure not to get lost on your way back up to the castle. Who knows how far these catacombs reach. I shall remain here. I find myself drawn to this place... as if it were meant for me." He turned away from the former ruler of Sugar Rush, taking a few more steps into the darkness before stopping and looking back one more time. "And... no sweets for me. I've heard they rot your teeth." The king revealed his teeth, sharp and jagged, with a frightful grin, allowing one more chuckle before delving deeper into the dungeon, his laugh echoing all the while.

Maleficent grew tired of waiting around in the courtyard. The night was still young, but there were other matters to attend to. Maleficent ordered her faithful raven Diablo to keep watch outside and to notify her wherever a new guest arrived before proceeding inside. The evil fairy took the form of an eerie green light and floated through the castle down into the dungeons, desiring a brief moment to confirm that her enchantments had held for her... guest.
As she flew through the catacombs, she cast an emerald glow upon every room she entered. It did not take long for her to catch up to the Horned King. At first Maleficent felt taken aback. What could the lich have wanted with the dungeons? There was no way that he could have known what she was keeping down here. He must've wandered down here of his own accord out of curiosity. All the same, leaving him unattended would not bode well for very long. In a flash of green flames, the wisp of light took form as Maleficent once again. The clacking of her heels against the stone floors echoed throughout the dungeon, alerting all within earshot to her presence.
"The Horned King, I presume?" Maleficent asked as she approached him. "What a clever nickname."

The clacking of her heels against the stone floors echoed throughout the dungeon, alerting all within earshot to her presence. "The Horned King, I presume?" Maleficent asked as she approached him. "What a clever nickname." The Horned King had remained in the depths of the dungeons after his "enlightening" discussion with the other monarch present within the castle, mostly as a way to recuperate further post-resurrection. Being surrounded by such grim, familiar scenery alleviated whatever remaining tension was left in his bones. There would be plenty of time to wander down here further if he so inclined, but perhaps the rest of the castle had other areas more fit for his stature - a throne room or open space to practice sorcery would be most desirable. However, continued exploration was sent to the back of the lich's mind as a green flash illuminated the walls around him, followed by the sound of footwear echoing the halls, and finally her voice. Addressing HIM in name. The Horned King turned, already recognizing the tone but knowing it a fool's errand to not face her. Maleficent stood, staff in hand and yellow eyes cast upon him. Up close, with her flowing dark robes and stoic presentation, her self-proclaimed title seemed more apt than ever. However, the Horned King was no fool nor deaf; her slight provocation against his own namesake did not go unnoticed. "You presume correctly, O Mistress," the lich turned fully to speak with her. "Back in my world, the very mention of my name would strike fear into the hearts of even the most seasoned warriors. But I see I must work harder to reach a level on-par with yours. Tell me, then, how to remain calm in the face of simple poultry asking rather reasonable questions. Surely, reacting to such in a volatile manner would have been... beneath a woman of your stature?"

Maleficent masked her sneer with a smug grin and a light chuckle. This Horned King was obviously someone to watch, far more than any of the others. In some respects he reminded Maleficent of herself in sheer tenacity and talent for putting on a mask of civility and respect whilst delivering scathing insults. However, it wasn't like the Mistress of All Evil to allow a few well placed words to shake her. She would remain firm, no matter what. "What is and is not beneath me is a product of my own discretion, nothing less. But you know this already. Those of us who command rather than follow craft our own conception of what is reasonable. To reign ourselves in to the standards of another would mean subjecting ourselves to their authority. I'm certain in your line of work, you've learned this same simple truth: treat you word as law and others will follow your command without question. Then again, perhaps brutalizing peasants did not provide the occasion to understand real power." Maleficent rubbed her chin thoughtfully and turned her back on the Horned King, communicating clearly to him that she did not see him as a danger at all. There was no need to fear a dagger in the back when one held command of all the forces of the universe. "Tell me," she said without turning around, "what is that you truly desire, your majesty? Surely the king would not enter into hegemony without a specific reward in mind."

There was no need to fear a dagger in the back when one held command of all the forces of the universe. "Tell me," she said without turning around, "what is that you truly desire, your majesty? Surely the king would not enter into hegemony without a specific reward in mind." The Horned King's already monstrous face grew even more so, a scowl sprawling across his hooded visage. It was one thing to be in the presence of the one so powerful enough that she had bent the cosmos to her will, and another to once again be at the receiving end of her calmly placed insults to his very being. But to have her turn her very back on him was the greatest stone she could have thrown the lich's way. Because they BOTH knew there was nothing he could do to her in this moment. Though, the undead sorcerer would be lying to himself if he didn't believe Maleficent's words. Everything she had said rang true enough - the powerful and mighty will conquer and make the rules as they see fit, and the weak will listen and kneel accordingly. That's how he had gotten so many moronic simpletons under his employ before claiming the Black Cauldron for himself. He could easily wave off the final portion of her slight against him involving brutalizing the populace because, in all fairness, she was quite right. The magic granted by the cauldron was REAL power, whereas slaughter was slaughter... entertaining though it may be, at times. The Horned King let out a chuckle, his contemplation reaching its end. "Quite the wordsmith, aren't you, Mistress of Evil. No wonder the others rally behind you so easily - your words hold conviction plenty, and to offer such enticing rewards as revenge and riches, mere mortals and minions can be swayed without much convincing." He paced some as spoke to Maleficent - or, more appropriately, to her back. Irksome, for sure, but she wouldn't have asked a question if she didn't intend to listen. "Perhaps I am no different from the rabble summoned by your magic, for I too desire what had been so wrongfully taken from me. The Black Cauldron, a powerful crucible from my world - I had once held its dark magic within my hands, only for it to be ripped away by meddling fools calling themselves heroes. How I would love to watch them rot away within these very cells that surround us. "But... to have the Cauldron once again, and with the possibilities that your power has shown me, to unleash its power across not just upon Prydain once again, but across a vast number of realms, to have my unstoppable warriors once again by my side... Promise such to me, and I would be open to venues of... compromise with yourself and your... merry band you've begun to form here."

The Horned King's already monstrous face grew even more so, a scowl sprawling across his hooded visage. The evil fairy clutched the orb atop her stab firmly in contemplation. She'd summoned forth powerful allies to do her bidding, and her army of goblins stood ready to fight and die for her cause as well. Yet a true army, one fearsome and worthy of the might of The Five, had eluded her. If the Black Cauldron could do what the Horned King said it could, then perhaps the cauldron would be the perfect piece to complete the puzzle. Perhaps the Horned King's goals and her own did indeed overlap... if he could be trusted. Her blood red lips curled into a devilish smirk. "This Black Cauldron of yours," Maleficent said as she turned around to face the Horned King. "Tell me the extent of its powers. You mentioned the invincible warriors. How many can it create, and how does it accomplish such a feat? What use does it offer our goals of conquest?"
